This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine,
this little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine
Everyday, Everyday, Everyday
Hide it under a bushel, NO! I'm gonna let it shine,
Hide it under a bushel, NO! I'm gonna let it shine,
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine
Won't let Satan blow it out, I'm gonna let it shine,
Won't let Satan blow it out, I'm gonna let it shine,
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!
In the darkness of Central Asia, my light shines. But there are days I don't want to shine, days that I forget why I am here. If I'm honest, there have been alot of those days lately. My husband and I, with our (then) 3 kids (now 4) moved here to spread light in darkness. We were ripe with energy, ambition, passion. With a 3 year old, 2 year old and 1 year old in tow, who wouldn't have energy?! Maybe we had less energy and more ambition, regardless, we thought we could conquer anything. For the past three years we have labored and toiled to learn language while, along with our teammates, starting a fledgling church of believers in a city that formerly had none. This was no easy task and in fact in brought much persecution to our families as well as nationals who chose to believe. People were held against their will, lives were threatened, and we were separated from seeing those we loved, discipled and walked so closely with for so long. Indeed shining light in darkness was no easy task and it wore on us. Lately, I've wanted to throw in the towel. But weren't we created to know Him and make Him known? So how can I quit, how can I say No, I am not going to shine light any more. No, I am not going to engage with and love others; instead I am going to preserve myself. Self- preservation has crept in but I don't want to remain here. I want to continue to let my light shine for a long time and this blog will encourage me and hopefully others, to make it happen! To shine on!
I believe being mission minded starts in our hearts - etched out in our relationship with the Lord. It then can impact our homes in our marriage, our children through the way we train them, and then move out of our homes to impact others via our hospitality and a host of other ways. Not everyone has to move across the ocean to impact the nations with the gospel, to shine light in darkness. I hope to provide you with canvas of ideas on how you can create art with your life and the way you bring light into the lives of those around you. You were made for a purpose, dear friend...go live it! Shine on!
Pressing on INJOY,
Kindra
